Migraine

A migraine is a severe headache that causes intense throbbing or pulsing pain. These headaches can last for hours to even days, and can interfere with a person’s everyday life. According to the American Headache Society, over 39 million people live with migraine and other severe headache disorders in the United States.

Migraines can cause other symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, noise, and smell. People who experience a migraine headache often experience a moderate to severe throbbing pain that frequently occurs on one side of their head. Some people may experience an aura before or during a migraine, which describes a temporary neurological disturbance such as blind spots or flashes of light.

TMS is a treatment option for migraine relief. Current evidence suggests that high frequency TMS applied to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is effective in migraine prevention¹.
